Scarborough Sparkle: A magical start to the festive season
Scarborough Sparkle returns to the Scarborough Open Air Theatre from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 November, offering families a magical way to begin the festive season. This much-loved event is packed with seasonal cheer, twinkling lights, and joyful entertainment—perfect for kicking off the countdown to Christmas.
The event is opened with the annual lantern parade created by local community groups and there's a festive market with seasonal stalls selling handmade gifts, crafts, and delicious treats. Whether you're shopping for unique presents or enjoying a mulled wine and hot chocolate in the cosy tipi, there’s something for everyone.
Children will love the fairground rides, while the whole family can enjoy live music from the always popular Backchat Brass Band and local choirs. Highlights include a snow machine, Christmas tree, Santa’s sleigh, and appearances from the mischievous green Christmas guest, known for spreading cheeky festive fun.
Also joining the celebration are the Snow Sisters, bringing icy elegance and fairy-tale charm as they interact with children and pose for photos.
Entry is free, making it an affordable and memorable day out. Organised by North Yorkshire Council and sponsored by O’Briens Funfairs, Scarborough Sparkle is a joyful celebration of community, creativity, and Christmas spirit.
The event will be open Friday 28 November 5pm to 9pm, Saturday 29 November 11am to 8pm and Sunday 30 November 11am to 5pm. For more details, visit Scarborough Sparkle on Visit North Yorkshire.
